Pingtung County is located at the southwestern tip of Taiwan, and it is also the longest and narrowest county in western Taiwan. It borders Kaohsiung City to the north and is bordered by Beidawu Mountains and Taitung County to the east. Situated in the tropical region, it is rich in tropical vibes.

The Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area includes Dapeng Bay and Xiaoliuqiu (Little Liuqiu). The marine resources in the Dapeng Bay area are abundant, with unique mangroves such as Kandelia obovata and coastal plants like the Hiptage, Macaranga tanarius, and Barringtonia asiatica. The animal landscape is dominated by birds, fish, and crustaceans, with a total of 95 bird species recorded, including migratory and transitory birds. Fish species include grouper, and the mud crab in the wetlands is particularly distinctive.

Liuqiu is the only coral island among the 14 outlying islands near Taiwan, boasting rich underwater ecological resources. The island is adorned with peculiar rock formations and a splendid marine landscape.

There are nearly a hundred temples around Dapeng Bay and Liuqiu, distributed in the neighboring towns of Donggang, Linbian, and Nanzhou. Among them, Donglong Temple in Donggang Town's Donglong Village is the oldest temple, and its triennial burning of the plague god boat Festival is the largest Wang Ye religious event in the country. This place is renowned for its seafood, which is not only well-regarded throughout Taiwan but also reasonably priced. Donggang's "Three Treasures" - Albacore Tuna, Sakura Shrimp, and Oil Fish Roe - are culinary delights.

Pingtung Tourism Union

In response to the Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications' policy of promoting cross-regional alliance through tourism circle platforms, the Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area Administration has established the " Pingtung Tourism Union." This initiative aims to identify local businesses in the food, accommodation, entertainment, shopping, and transportation sectors with potential, and encourage collaborative efforts among diverse industries to complement each other's strengths. By organizing the local tourism industry, including the development of food, accommodation, entertainment, shopping, and transportation services, it creates a regional tourism development organization to foster collective growth. This endeavor brings a fresh perspective to Taiwan's local tourism industry in Pingtung and jointly promotes high-quality tourism products from Pingtung to the international market.
